2017 Polyfest

Thursday the 16th of March. Team 5 gathered around to travel on a bus, to Manukau, for the 2017 Polyfest. It was about a, 10 - 17 minute ride. We hopped off at gate 3, noticing that we were too early, to begin our tour. So we waited!! We heard some school waiata’s, that was being performed at the Te reo Maori stage.

It was time to being our tour. Walking and learning about, keeping firewise. In the kitchen, if there was a pot. That was lit on fire! We were told not to mix, water with fire. As they do not go well together. We were also told, if there was a fire on a pot. Put some soaking wet tea towels.                

As the day went on. So did the performances. Team 5 was put into individual groups, by Classes because normally we're one big unit. So... It was cool & intensive to watch the girls put, effort, leadership, and commitment towards their culture. The music would be so loud, ear plugs would be needed to block the sound.           

I think the favourite part I had, was??? Eating watermelon which was stacked with Ice cream on top, plus getting free glasses and a visor hat ( tennis hats ), And a Chinaman's hat.

Three Kete of Knowledge

The Three Kete of knowledge was brought down from Tane. The story is a bit like Jack
and the beanstalk, but different because Tane has a brother that's trying to stop him. Tane is a GOD
of the forests and of birds. Whiro is the oldest brother oh all. Whiro wants to bring the Three Kete
Of Knowledge but Tane made a Promise for the people that he will retrieve it first.  
 

Test 1 experiment : Hot water

White sugar or Brown sugar ?

The look on my face, watching which sugar would dissolve the fastest ! Was weird I didn’t really know that the Brown sugar would dissolve just 5. 53s. Leaving 1.93 seconds faster than white sugar 7 .49 would dissolve.

Which type of sugar will dissolve the fastest ? White sugar or Brown sugar ?

Hypothesis: Try to predict the answer to the problem. Another term for hypothesis is ‘educated guess’. This is usually stated like ” If I…(do something) then…(this will occur)

Materials: List everything you will need to conduct your experiment.

Experiment procedure: The fun part! Design a test or procedure to confirm or disprove your hypothesis. Write down each step so that someone else could do the same experiment.

We poured 1 little packet of white sugar into hot water ( cup ). We time how long would it take to dissolve The we did Brown sugar poured that into hot water ( cup ) Then again we waited to see how long would it take It finally came down to 5. 53 seconds ( Brown sugar ). Then the White sugar took 7. 49 seconds long.

Analysis/Data: Record what happened during the experiment.

We pour a little bit of hot water into the sugar. Our first test was the brown sugar would dissolve pretty fast and it did. Then the White sugar

Conclusion:Review the data and check to see if your hypothesis was correct.

The fastest sugar that dissolved the fastest was Brown sugar. The with sugar was slow at dissolving 1.93 seconds may not sound that slow but I didn’t expect it to be slower than the brown sugar

 

Tj's Rewriting instructions

Centuries ago their was a Village called Olympia… That was the first time in history of the year 1886 they had Olympics back then pregnant woman or married womans wasn’t allowed to participate or watch men in the  ancient Olympics also their completed in the nude. There was also only two sports that their could participate in. But now it’s the 21st century everything is demeanor. People only have one chance to prove the world that their one of the best in the world they only have 4 years to train the 5th year that’s when their gain respect..

In the year of 2016 there are 3 teachers battling it out for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place their telegrapher Miss Tela the pack of the TEAM 5….. 1st up Miss Berry competing proudly for her country “AUSTRALIA” she’s asked “ What makes you think that you have a shot to take 1st place”. She says ( Because I have been focused on this for a very long time) she proudly says her chant ( Oz Oz Oz ) but their is no one there for her how disappointing is that.. Her attitude demeanor right on the spot. She starts her dance ohh what a spin by miss Berry ohh no she didn’t she does a cartwheel that was quite a dance Judges what do you think of that dance Ooo low scores 4 & a 3 that will be easy to beat…. Now for Miss Clark Miss Clark is asked the same thing “ What makes you think that you have a shot to take 1st place”, I think I have a great opportunity to win this also no one is good like me soo…. Woow how cocky can she be

Now for the 1st and last time representing the US  MISS CLARK the crowd goes  “WILD” .  it’s finally time for her chart right now ( USA, USA, USA, USA ) everyone is chanting for her USA USA USA USA… Oh that's cold look at Miss Berry's face she looks more than angry I think she’s jealous. Miss Clark’s dance will be hard to top look at her moves she's on fleek today just look like that she was built for this….. Back flip, front flip & finishes off with a cart wheel. Judges what do you think of that really awesome dance. Ohh I wasn’t expecting that but i think it will be hard… 7 & 8 that will be hard it will if Mr Wise Man pulls a miracle to beat that score.

Supporting the NEW ZEALAND side Mr Wise man... He smiles what brilliant white teeth. That goes show KIWIS look after their body. The crowd is one firer clapping and singing KIWIS at the same time I would be proud if I was him.. Again he is asked “ What makes you think that you have a shot to take place” Well I have done a lot of exercise, running & I will become a super to my little girl at NEW ZEAL A.. He dances well side flip, front flip, back flip and finishes off with the splits… He should be huffing & puffing the judges give him a 10 10 & a 10 OMG!!! He has fainted the paramedicals is comes onto the stage & their say that he is disqualified because he has been taking DRUGS his eyes are red & numed… That means MISS CLARK IS THE WINNER!!! I’m really sure that his country might be pretty embarrassed after what happen right now………. The judges are mad because they're from NEW ZEALAND

Living on a shoe string

Living on a shoe string really hard when you don't have any ideas!! Also sometimes it is really easy for people. I notice for me living a shoe string is really hard when you have no ideas but there are some ways that you get money from someone!! Our Trade fair

This term we are learning about Trade and Enterprise. Trade and Enterprise is about creating, selling and designing products that we have made. We are also learning about how to look after our money by using internet banking and cash. Our total profit was 52.00 PTs

As part of our terms topic we had a trade fair.

What I have learnt so far is that being enterprising is about entertaining others in a way that lures them into buying your product. We have had the opportunity to do this last Friday at our trade fair.

For the trade fair my friends and I have created a business called kitchen. We are selling chocolate cupcakes with kitkat and some chocolate pudding. For our products we are selling it for 2 PT each that is how much we are selling it for!

For our trade and enterprising we have Pisces and P.T. Red is 20 pisces, white is 50 pisces, blue is 1 P.T and green is 2 P.Ts. We use these for buy another person’s product. Our pisces and P.Ts are bigger than the real money like 20 pisces is worth 40 cents , 50 pisces are worth 1 dollar, 1 P.T is worth 2 dollars and 2 P.Ts are worth 4 new zealand dollars

I'm really excited about our market day coming up in week 8! We are hoping to make lots of PTs!! Our business we're thinking about making over 50 cupcakes. My team were hope that on week 8 we all have at least 70 P.Ts

It only goes up to 150 for the race and your energy only goes up to 50 that is the max for your energy when up get up to world championship you try and beat other races and you. I will give this a 7/10 if you called add a friend to play with you i will give this a 10/10 but it not so 7/10

I would give the link to my friend because it is a very excellent game. This is a game about upgrading your energy to 50 because that is the max and 150 is the max for everything onces you have max everything it will be easier than you think.

Math Problem solving

ANZAC Assembly

We had a special assembly so we can remember the people who died in World war Some of us wore some poppy’s to show respect for the people who battle on the field of poppy’s.They always march to their trench. A trench is a deep walkway to keep them safe from the enemy’s.Dogs are faster because it will be hard for the sniper people to kill.

In World War 1 they came from ships to turkey to have the battle with the germans. Some of the teachers wore a poppies to show respect for the ones that died for us. Did you know that ANZAC stands for Australia ,New Zealand ,Army ,Corp. Did you know that poppies grow on a battlefield and also they use dogs to send notes to the other side of the field because if we run pass they can shoot us because were out on the open. In WW1 that means it is World War 1 they had trench it is a line that is petter deep. They also been using reins to carry the ones that are hurt.

Dog are faster than us it will be really hard for anyone you try and shoot dogs. Did you know in ww1 they woke up up at 5:30 am. At 6:00 the battle began to start. Did you know people didn’t know that it was about W.A.R. Most people will surrender because they do not want to die. The one that died for us was the one that died of honor.

If a another emery squad surrenders the other emery squad will send them back to the county in peace.
