Immersion Assembly

My school's immersion assembly always starts off with a item, that's explains something about the theme or before they explain the theme. Music can have vocal or just instruments, ( or both ) combined in such a way as to produced beauty of form. Music can set people in different moods, to be happy or sad, depressed or thinking.

Today I am going to elaborate to you about 2 teams, that gave me a good expression to start school.

Thumb's up for my feedback. I hope you enjoy my feedback of what I like about the teams.

Team 2 sang ~ The Lion Sleeps Tonight - The Lion Sleeps Tonight is a very special song, written by an artist known as Soloman Ntsele A.K.A Solomon Popoli Linda.  With a slow setting that captures the crowd's attention.

Team 4 ~ Carpool Karaoke - Karaoke can entertain a whole group of numbers, it's normally preformed by someone who is doing a cover. Carpool karaoke is different it's when not only one person sings, but everyone in the vehicle . That can set the mood if your going some where far, you'll forget about how long the ride will be because you will be to busy singing. ( With you family or friends )

Key Competency - Managing Self

WALT: 1. Show how much progress we can make in one literacy session
2. Articulate what we are learning about.

Kia Ora

Today our class is focusing on our Key Competencies. Our aim was to stay on task and see how much progress we make for reading and writing in one morning block. This should set the standard for how much work we complete each time we have literacy.

Accidental Plastics

WALT: Use prior knowledge along with information in the text to interpret abstract ideas.

I've been working on & reading about Accidental Plastics. So like something that was a mistake, but yet it was new invention. My thought right now is 8 pool balls, do you know what their made out of?? The material of it? Well there was a man called, John Wesley Hyatt he's a scientist. He tried to win a prize by using cellulose, plant-based material. Mix with other ingredients. He accidentally spilt some, he noticed that the mixture formed a thin film that was strong and flexible. It was a Billiard plastic form. PLASTIC, accidentally made.

Term 2 - Back from Home, and I'm looking forward to?!

Term 1, P.E finished with a special assembly. Pt England's principal Mr Burt, would always tell us about his friend " Collin ". The three R's, Road, Rail and River. How to keep safe! His word's were, 1 - Stay safe joining the Holidays, 2 - Don't play on the road or you might get squashed or flattened by a car, ( this is when his friend " Collin " comes into play ) 3 - His friend was almost close to dying. ( I don't wanna write the whole story because I gotta get the other part finished, what I'm looking forward to ).

Anyways the holidays are done, and now it's time for Term 2. I'm obviously looking forward to rugby union for the school. It's gonna be 1 hell of a ride with the boys.

Our Immersion Assembly brought back memory's. Mr Blakey, he told us stories. But he left in term 1, It was nice to hear Mr Blakey tell us one more story. 2k17 Staring   Now That's Thinking!

Introduction to Place value : Decimals

In week 9, we've learnt place value. We know that, if you add 100 thousandths it makes one tenth.
Then If you add 10 hundredths, it then equals 1 tenth.

2017 Polyfest

Thursday the 16th of March. Team 5 gathered around to travel on a bus, to Manukau, for the 2017 Polyfest. It was about a, 10 - 17 minute ride. We hopped off at gate 3, noticing that we were too early, to begin our tour. So we waited!! We heard some school waiata’s, that was being performed at the Te reo Maori stage.

It was time to being our tour. Walking and learning about, keeping firewise. In the kitchen, if there was a pot. That was lit on fire! We were told not to mix, water with fire. As they do not go well together. We were also told, if there was a fire on a pot. Put some soaking wet tea towels.

As the day went on. So did the performances. Team 5 was put into individual groups, by Classes because normally we're one big unit. So... It was cool & intensive to watch the girls put, effort, leadership, and commitment towards their culture. The music would be so loud, ear plugs would be needed to block the sound.

I think the favourite part I had, was??? Eating watermelon which was stacked with Ice cream on top, plus getting free glasses and a visor hat ( tennis hats ), And a Chinaman's hat.

Thank you for reading my reflection story about Polyfest 2k17.

Water Poster

This is actually why we need to drink water each day!.. You may
not realise that 63.4 million people die because of water.  So I thought of
making a poster to help people realise and remind them that water is important.

Message about the The Kete of knowledge

Three Kete of Knowledge

The Three Kete of knowledge was brought down from Tane. The story is a bit like Jack
and the beanstalk, but different because Tane has a brother that's trying to stop him. Tane is a GOD
of the forests and of birds. Whiro is the oldest brother oh all. Whiro wants to bring the Three Kete
Of Knowledge but Tane made a Promise for the people that he will retrieve it first.
